the big boat is churning towards Louisville, Kentucky, for a brief stop. Carney has been given a clear, somewhat menacing, message--anonymous, of course--that he should remove himself from the boat, but he won't. meanwhile, Miss Pomeroy doesn't seem to be who he thought she was, but then, who is she? oh, and Captain Jellicoe is a twit and a bigmouth...and though in this case loose lips didn't go so far as to sink the ship, he has blown Carney's cover. then again, that is what seems to have spurred the nasty GET OFF note.
me, I have no idea if Carney's murdering quarry is actually on board--but that's the fun. entertaining and twisty book, so far.
