Maigret's Dead Man: Inspector Maigret #29 - Georges Simenon

as a I commit to more of these Maigret novels I think they take me back to when I was 12-14 years old and binging on Ed McBain’s 87th Precinct novels...in that there are a lot of them and they go fast because they are short (well, in McBain’s case, short until about 1982 when obviously the longer novel became more common in Mystery series). they are also police-detective series - but again I emphasize that both authors have shown me you can write a terrific Crime/Mystery novel in 150-230 pages. the last thing I find similar about the two series is a level of excellence...though we’ll see if Simenon can match McBain for sheer number of great, short novels written over decades.
